Description
Paraffin gauze is a sterile, petroleum jelly-coated mesh dressing used as a non-stick primary layer to protect healing wounds and keep them moist. Standard to most medical kits.
What It Does
- Prevents sticking: The soft paraffin layer stops the outer cloth from clinging to new, delicate skin.
- Low adhesion: It minimizes pain and tearing when you change the bandage.
- Allows drainage: It lets fluid pass through the open mesh into an absorbent second pad.
Common Uses
- Minor burns and scalds
- Scrapes, cuts, and deep abrasions
- Skin graft sites and leg ulcers.
