The lined polyester cover can be used to handle a hot Cup when removing it from the fire/stove, or handling any other item that is Hot. One can also wet the cover in a river while walking to assist in cooling the water in the canteen. Replace this Rothco canteen with the Nalgene canteen, which can handle HOT water.
